12:33 pm: Here kitty kitty

So there was a small discussion amongst some people I sing with a few weeks ago about a reflex that (some?) cats have. Said reflex being the thing where you pat a cat above the tail and its bottom rises up. Opinions were divided about whether this is a mating-related female-cat reflex, or a reflex that all cats have, or a reflex that all mammals have, honest (I must admit I have never noticed it in humans, although wikipedia has a fascinating list of human reflexes.)
And I could look this up, but I seem to have developed rampant jetlag five days before I should logically get it, and so looking stuff up is looking distinctly dicey, as is coherent thought. And in the absence of coherent thought one might as well speculate about cats all day long.

A worrying number of human reflexes are in response to being hit with a hammer in some joint. Who went around hitting people with hammers to discover all this? Were they arrested?
